Republicans think we (women) are stupid and gullible and reading this post and the comments left have just proven that fact. Nothing she has done or said, let alone McCain proves anything about how to run a country. She can’t keep track of her daughter (obviously abstinence only ed does not work). Also she hid her pregnancy till her 3rd trimester and the fact that the baby had Down’s Syndrome from her family and kids, and not until he was born was he a blessing to shared. That’s pretty shady if you ask me. What else is she hiding until the perfect time to exploit it?

The above comment was left by ‘anonymous’.

Oh, I could go so many places with this…and so I shall. I find it ironic that ‘anonymous’ believes that “Republicans” think women are stupid since millions of Republicans are women. I am not stupid. That is why I am no more wooed by O, as in Oprah or Obama, than I was by Bill Clinton 16 years ago. I actually used to really admire Oprah because of her philanthropy, but then she revealed wishy washy ideals with which I do not agree, so I simply do not watch her anymore. I know she is doing good in people’s lives, but for the love people, she’s not Jesus! She’s Oprah. Sheesh. Young and beautiful, ie Obama, Clinton, or Palin, doesn’t seal votes for me. It may for some, but I am actually going to vote on principle, character, issues, and policies. That’s like choosing a candidate because the Hollywood Elite has rallied behind him or her…not substantial reasoning. It’s called ‘Bandwagon’. You don’t have to hop on it. I’m so sad that some out there, either on the right or left, actually take a presidential election so seriously that they lose perspective of living a life that truly has meaning and impact. It is important. But if Jesus Christ comes back during the next 4 years, the eternal issues will still be the ones that matter day to day, one day at a time, and especially on that day, the day He promised to return.

I watched the movie “Smart People” last weekend. It was entertaining because I know people like those portrayed in the movie and, at the same time, it made me want to hurl. Repulsive. Merit based on books and affiliations. So quick to give advice, always prepared to ‘educate’ the lowly, or, more often than not, forming opinions of others that they have deemed ignorant, simple-minded, stupid…simply because they hold differing opinions, views, and values in life.

I know there are other Republican women, and men, who were also qualified, some more than Sarah Palin, to be chosen as McCain’s running mate. But that doesn’t mean they were the right fit for the direction McCain desires to take this country. He’s sick of being lumped on the right and wanted to show that in choosing a qualified leader, he really intends to bring change. Let me put it this way…just because we as women have uterus’ does not mean we are all qualified to be mothers or produce offspring. The same is true for men…without needing to describe their body parts. There are many who are definitely not. And those women, should they be so self-aware, should give their babies to women who want more than anything to be moms…though, since they even would consider an ab*rti*n out of inconvenience (I altered the spelling because I had a psycho far right-winger sending me comments…) shows they give more of a rip about their choices of what to do with their vaginas than about the woman next door who grieves every day, longing for a child of her own.

As far as the jab at Palin for her inability to keep track of her daughter, I am curious, ‘anonymous’ if your parents handed the key of your chastity belt to your spouse at the altar or if that was yours to give away…your choice, your responsibility? My parents taught me about sex…what I chose to do with that information was up to me. Perhaps she did it to get her mom’s attention? Perhaps she got pregnant because she had sex with her boyfriend? I’m no rocket scientist, but…if it was to get her mother’s attention, she sure did, along with the nations, and thankfully she has a supportive family, and father of the child, to rally around her.

Oh, and as far as keeping her pregnancy a secret until 7 months, I won’t pretend to know the ‘why’ or if that is even true. I will say this, however, I lost a child before I had Emily. I lost a child after 7 months to an unknown disease. I miss him every day and the prospect of getting pregnant again brings a flood of emotions. Let’s see…I thought in my head that when I said I wanted 2-4 kids that meant they’d be cute, healthy, LIVING. Every day young couples get pregnant with dreams of healthy, bouncing babies. Having a perinatal fatal diagnosis, or potentially life-threatening, or shortened life expectancy, diagnosis given to you at the doctor’s office, for a visit that was just to find out if it is a boy or girl, is heart-wrenching. I know because I have friends who have bravely walked that road. If I do get pregnant again, I haven’t decided if I am going to tell anyone but Jason, or if I’m going to tell the world. I would imagine, as a woman who is empathetic, that having received such news, and living a life in the public eye, cherishing the quiet moments of pregnancy with a child you may or may not get to know would be priceless, and private.

The Bible talks about how we as parents should train our children in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not part from it. It doesn’t say that they will be perfect. It does not say they won’t make mistakes. It says that we should talk about the Lord and His word when we are coming and going…not just on Sundays and not until we deem them ‘old enough’ to make educated decisions about faith on their own. That’s like not teaching them the alphabet, numbers, or how to read until they are adults, or ‘old enough’ to truly appreciate learning. It is not a wonder that there are millions of ‘Recovering: Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, etc.’ who are only half-hearted, if at all, in their desire to ever want to truly meet God the way He desires to be met. It is our jobs as parents to teach our children that the Creator of the Universe, God, who designed them and knows each hair on their heads, is the same one that designed sex and called it good. He is the same one that warns us to enjoy sex inside of marriage, not only because of pregnancy, but now because there are hundreds, if not thousands, of sexually transmitted diseases that cause: cancer, fatal diseases, infertility, etc.

I’ve been judged because I am teaching Emily from the Bible and not educating her on the other world religions at this time, stating that I am making that choice for her. I am responsible to teach Emily the Truth. I will also teach her about the other world religions because I was a theology major and, because I don’t want my child living in a cave of ignorance. From there, I will continue to pray and trust that God will lead Emily because she is His child. But I can say this, it’s a lot easier to teach a child truth and watch faith grow in them than to try to convince an educated adult that faith is real and God loves them, despite them…how will you cherish the gift God has given to you?

  1. Nice job!

Seems like there are way too many people “ranting” their opinions right now without substantial information. I appreciate your abiblity and willingness to verbally stand against them. I wish I had that gift.

  2. Thanks for having the courage to respond to that comment. I, too, am not stupid. I still don’t understand how people can say that running a state government has no merrit especially when someone who votes a few times and “campaigns” for 19 months of that time is “more prepared” to be in charge.

I am someone who struggled for 8 years to create life. My choice was to be a mom and I pretty much did anything to try and achieve that. Now, I am a proud mom to an amazing boy who happens to be adopted. His birthmom was 16 when she gave birth and no, she is not “white trash” or from a “white trash” family who didn’t care about her. In fact the situation is quite the opposite and she now speaks out on teen pregnancy, abortion and adoption.

Thank goodness for people like our birthmom and Sarah Palin. I will proudly stand by them while others would rather drag them through the mud.

  3. As a mom, I pay a whole lot of attention to my six kids. I don’t even work outside the home, because I’ve choosen this route (and it may change when I feel inclined) and I make tons of mistakes with parenting all the time, but NO ONE HAD BETTER BLAME ME when my teenagers misbehave and do STUPID STUFF! Growing kids have a mind and ability to screw up all on their own… (just like we did as younsters) even when they are mostly well-behaved. And furthermore, it’s faaaaarrrr too easy to become sexually aroused as a teenager–even if you have every intention of holding to a standard of abstinence until marriage. It’s not all that easy to do. I know this from experience… but at least, in the Palin’s case her daughter and the boyfriend seem to have a substantial relationship as they are engaged and taking things one day at a time let the rest of the human race.

Anyway… I happen to believe that Sarah Palin has proven her experienced in governing and leadership roles already, as mayor and governor. That’s no cake walk! Neither is campaigning–but campaigning is all about presenting an image and winning people’s approval. Being mayor or governor or councilman/woman means making real decisions about policies that effect the way money gets spent and operations get carried out.

yada yada… I have to go. Sorry to get on the soapbox. Great post.

  4. Hey anonomus! Quit arguing! No website or celebrity is going to change our view or who we will vote for…. because we follow god!

  5. I had an enlightening conversation with my aunt who is currently working toward her Masters Degree in Psychology. She is one of the only conservative students on a state campus full of liberal views. When confronted on her views of this political race, she stated:

“Don’t ask me to vote against my beliefs just because you deem them insignificant or cry for separation of church and state. Because I’m a Christian I cannot and will not, separate my beliefs from the issues. They are as much a part of me as my arms and legs. My beliefs come from God and define who I am, they are not just something I believe. When I leave that booth on November 4th, I will know that I voted with my heart and with my convictions.”

I know her answer has resonated within me. Well-written Adrienne, very well-written.

  6. To the anonymous post today…keep in mind that your source of information, the New York Times, ran 68 negative articles in 3 days about Palin and McCain.

  7. One of the things that Americans need to be savy about is this…..the media in this country is NOT about printing JUST THE FACTS! Each of them seems to be pontificating their own brand of “life philosopy”…and they are VERY elitist…..they think that they know better than the “average person” what is best for them. It is kind of like this….when a Californian moves to your state, they try to make your state like it was in California, (which is such a hodge-podge of any and every philosophy and life-style that it is actually a “state of confusion”)…..the people who are involved in reporting the news seem to be elitist intellectuals who are absorbed in making a name for themselves and trying to make everyone into the kind of people they would like to be idolized by.

  8. Elections get all of us considering our lives and our values. I personally have had issues, and they change continually, about how to reconcile the idea of being both a Democrat and a Christian. The media had convinced me that I could not truly be both, because big issues in Christianity loom on the side of the Democrats- homosexuality and abortion.

I think abortion is the most difficult issue for most Christians. The bible teaches us “Thou shalt not murder”, and that life created by God is sacred. I did a little research on the topic and found a few facts that are not exactly advertised about the issue. Some of the information I’ve found:
    1) 5 of the 7 justices in the majority of Roe v. Wade were Republican. Of the two that dissented, one was a Democrat and one a Republican
    2) The Republican Party has held the office of President for 20 of the last 28 years. Many of our Supreme court members were appointed by these Presidents
    3) A conservative majority of the Court upheld the election results of 2000, declaring George W. Bush president, yet he or any other lawmaker have not used this advantage to push through abortion legislation that would overturn RvW.

I don’t feel the Republicans have a strong motivation to change abortion policy. It allows them to run on the “pro-life” platform year after year which draws in conservative Christians who want to support the belief that life is sacred. It would be a major group to lose, who if pacified, might recognize that many of the other policies of this party are very “unchristian”. They can always claim that the “liberal left” is preventing them from changing policy but I have to ask, what is the Republican Party doing to prevent or reduce abortions? Abstinence only education? Providing childcare or access to healthcare? Don’t even try and get coverage if you’re already pregnant- it’s not going to happen. Raising the minimum wage so you can actually afford to care for the child? Doing anything to support families with children, or improve the schools for the children we do have? And if life is so sacred, why don’t we care more about the lives of the 100,000 innocent killed in Iraq, or Sudan, where we have sat back and watched as genocide takes place?

Then there’s the issue of homosexuality. The Republicans aren’t stupid on this one either. Why did so many gay rights/marriage proposals pop up in 2004? It’s not like people are going to just stop being gay. This is another tough one for me- I don’t agree with it. But it’s not like heterosexuals have done so much to honor the idea of marriage either, what with 50% failing. I can’t begin to understand it, but I know I can’t change it either. And I also know that I wake up being sinful every day, just like they do. It may not be as in your face as two men kissing, but let’s face it, we all sin every day, often knowingly, and God still loves us.

To me, the Christian principles of “Love your neighbor as yourself”, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”, and “I will judge you by how you have cared the least of those among you” are far more important than the empty promise that abortion will be outlawed, marriage between a man and a woman will be upheld and morality will be somehow restored to America.

  9. BTW, I love you and yours, politics aside! Emily and Noah are a fave among my kids and we will always keep checking in you guys, regardless of political difs! No matter how we vote, we are ALL smart women – because we are women! Just my opinion! Sorry that I don’t have a blogger account or I wouldn’t post Anonymous – Susan in NY.

Figured that I would leave something from a fellow “smart” woman …

    Opinion

Palin: wrong woman, wrong messageSarah Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Hillary Clinton. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger

    By Gloria Steinem
    September 4, 2008

Here’s the good news: Women have become so politically powerful that even the anti-feminist right wing — the folks with a headlock on the Republican Party — are trying to appease the gender gap with a first-ever female vice president. We owe this to women — and to many men too — who have picketed, gone on hunger strikes or confronted violence at the polls so women can vote. We owe it to Shirley Chisholm, who first took the ‘white-male-only’ sign off the White House, and to Hillary Rodham Clinton, who hung in there through ridicule and misogyny to win 18 million votes.

But here is even better news: It won’t work. This isn’t the first time a boss has picked an unqualified woman just because she agrees with him and opposes everything most other women want and need. Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It’s about making life more fair for women everywhere. It’s not about a piece of the existing pie; there are too many of us for that. It’s about baking a new pie.

Selecting Sarah Palin, who was touted all summer by Rush Limbaugh, is no way to attract most women, including die-hard Clinton supporters. Palin shares nothing but a chromosome with Clinton. Her down-home, divisive and deceptive speech did nothing to cosmeticize a Republican convention that has more than twice as many male delegates as female, a presidential candidate who is owned and operated by the right wing and a platform that opposes pretty much everything Clinton’s candidacy stood for — and that Barack Obama’s still does. To vote in protest for McCain/Palin would be like saying, ‘Somebody stole my shoes, so I’ll amputate my legs.’
This is not to beat up on Palin. I defend her right to be wrong, even on issues that matter most to me. I regret that people say she can’t do the job because she has children in need of care, especially if they wouldn’t say the same about a father. I get no pleasure from imagining her in the spotlight on national and foreign policy issues about which she has zero background, with one month to learn to compete with Sen. Joe Biden’s 37 years’ experience.

Palin has been honest about what she doesn’t know. When asked last month about the vice presidency, she said, ‘I still can’t answer that question until someone answers for me: What is it exactly that the VP does every day?’ When asked about Iraq, she said, ‘I haven’t really focused much on the war in Iraq.’

She was elected governor largely because the incumbent was unpopular, and she’s won over Alaskans mostly by using unprecedented oil wealth to give a $1,200 rebate to every resident. Now she is being praised by McCain’s campaign as a tax cutter, despite the fact that Alaska has no state income or sales tax. Perhaps McCain has opposed affirmative action for so long that he doesn’t know it’s about inviting more people to meet standards, not lowering them. Or perhaps McCain is following the Bush administration habit, as in the Justice Department, of putting a job candidate’s views on ‘God, guns and gays’ ahead of competence. The difference is that McCain is filling a job one 72-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency.

So let’s be clear: The culprit is John McCain. He may have chosen Palin out of change-envy, or a belief that women can’t tell the difference between form and content, but the main motive was to please right-wing ideologues; the same ones who nixed anyone who is now or ever has been a supporter of reproductive freedom. If that were not the case, McCain could have chosen a woman who knows what a vice president does and who has thought about Iraq; someone like Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison or Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine. McCain could have taken a baby step away from right-wing patriarchs who determine his actions, right down to opposing the Violence Against Women Act.

Palin’s value to those patriarchs is clear: She opposes just about every issue that women support by a majority or plurality. She believes that creationism should be taught in public schools but disbelieves global warming; she opposes gun control but supports government control of women’s wombs; she opposes stem cell research but approves ‘abstinence-only’ programs, which increase unwanted births, sexually transmitted diseases and abortions; she tried to use taxpayers’ millions for a state program to shoot wolves from the air but didn’t spend enough money to fix a state school system with the lowest high-school graduation rate in the nation; she runs with a candidate who opposes the Fair Pay Act but supports $500 million in subsidies for a natural gas pipeline across Alaska; she supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve, though even McCain has opted for the lesser evil of offshore drilling. She is Phyllis Schlafly, only younger.

I don’t doubt her sincerity. As a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assn., she doesn’t just support killing animals from helicopters, she does it herself. She doesn’t just talk about increasing the use of fossil fuels but puts a coal-burning power plant in her own small town. She doesn’t just echo McCain’s pledge to criminalize abortion by overturning Roe vs. Wade, she says that if one of her daughters were impregnated by rape or incest, she should bear the child. She not only opposes reproductive freedom as a human right but implies that it dictates abortion, without saying that it also protects the right to have a child.

So far, the major new McCain supporter that Palin has attracted is James Dobson of Focus on the Family. Of course, for Dobson, ‘women are merely waiting for their husbands to assume leadership,’ so he may be voting for Palin’s husband.

Being a hope-a-holic, however, I can see two long-term bipartisan gains from this contest.
Republicans may learn they can’t appeal to right-wing patriarchs and most women at the same time. A loss in November could cause the centrist majority of Republicans to take back their party, which was the first to support the Equal Rights Amendment and should be the last to want to invite government into the wombs of women.

And American women, who suffer more because of having two full-time jobs than from any other single injustice, finally have support on a national stage from male leaders who know that women can’t be equal outside the home until men are equal in it. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are campaigning on their belief that men should be, can be and want to be at home for their children.

    This could be huge.

Gloria Steinem is an author, feminist organizer and co-founder of the Women’s Media Center. She supported Hillary Clinton and is now supporting Barack Obama.

  10. Me doth think ye protest too much. Had McCain chosen a different running mate, would the Democrats not send 35 top lawyers to his/her hometown to try to dig up SOMETHING on him/her? Would they say “Hey, John, great choice for running mate.”
Why do Democrats think that we would vote for Palin simply because she is a woman? If she were a man, I would be just as elated about the prospect of not sending one more politician to Washington who says what he is told and answers to those that are payrolling him. Any effective speaker could then run for president with no other qualifications. Hey, wait…
Palin is different and has a proven administrative record of that as her role as Governor, the role numerous previous VP’s have held. No, she is not Hillary Clinton. Praise God. Had we wanted a Hillary Clinton in office, we would have voted for the first one. That should be a good indication that being a woman is not the one reason America has embraced Palin.
It’s ironic how concerned some liberals are about her family values because of the pregnancy of her daughter, knowing how important the sanctity of the traditional American family is to their views (drip, drip.) I agree that sex outside of marriage is against what God intended. I also don’t believe Ms. Palin is the first human to not follow one of God’s teachings. Let alone the first teen to have sex before she should. The fact that her family is the biggest thing her critics are harping on says alot.
    That’s all. Have a happy day 🙂

  11. Well written … awesome. I found your blog through another site many months ago … and it quickly became my favorite place to check for “something to make me think”. I love your ideas and thoughts … and the way you convey them to others. You not only make me think while reading your entries … thoughts regarding your blog pop into my head througout the day. Awesome post!! Don’t have an account .. so must post as Anonymous. Darlene

  12. I agree with your blog and I thank you for expressing it when others of us wouldn’t. I have always been taught that anyone that signs “anonymous” doesn’t have the guts to back up their opinion. As a teacher “anonymous” letters were thrown in the trash because if you don’t have the guts to tell who you are and why you believe what you believe, you tend to stand for anything the wind blows in.

    Thanks Ade –
    Angie from MO

  13. Ade-
This post proves why I love talking to you when I get the chance. You are an awesome woman of God, you stand up for what you believe and don’t let silly anonymous posts get you down. They just fuel your fire to spread the word of God. I am with ya 100% and I pray daily for this election and nation. I truly believe we are in the end days and we need to make sure we have our lives in order and be waiting for Jesus’ return!!!! GO ADE, GO ADE, GO ADE!!!! (picture me with pom poms cheering for you!!!) LOVE YOU!!!!

    Jennie

  14. You’re not stupid. But, you did just what “anonymous” wanted you to – got angry and ranted yourself. It’s your blog, and we can stop reading if we want to, I understand. I also think that McCain and Palin are “wooing” the public just as much as the Obama camp. That’s what campaigning is – and most of it turns to mudslinging as the election nears.

  15. i really love it when it’s not a presidential election year….:0) i have very strong beliefs, as strong as yours, i am sure. but i detest the side of american’s that politics brings out.

we should be living our beliefs every day, which i think all who read here would say that you do, and not feel forced to defend them because a loon on either side is calling us names.

  16. Well said. I think “anonymous” is a coward for not putting his/her name on the post. I proudly stand by my beliefs, and I don’t care who knows it! I won’t hide behind a title of “anonymous.” But, sadly, it just shows the ignorance of “anonymous.” Until you walk in a person’s steps, we cannot judge. It’s so easy to tell others how to do things, but until our lives are perfect, nobody should go and criticize others. I’d like to see “anonymous” have to face some of the situations that Sarah Palin has faced, just to see how he/she would have handled it. It’s so easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. But when you’re in the game, at the moment, you make decisions that are true to your character. Plain and simple.

  17. You know, I was just thinking how this post shows just another gift Noah left this world. What started as a blog dedicated to Noah’s healing has turned into a platform with a huge audience. God can and does use you and this platform to impart great wisdom… and it’s Noah who brought everyone here. No other word but “awesome” applies.

  18. Wow, is all I have to say. I can’t believe someone left that comment on your blog. If they feel that strongly about their beliefs they should have stood up for themselves and left their name at least.

I’m still undecided on this election but certainly do love hearing or reading other’s opinions so I can get a different point of view and help weigh things out in my own mind.

    Sincerely,

    Amy

  19. Except I wasn’t angry when I read the comment or when I posted…I can feel passionate, but this didn’t bother me in a way that is implied, thus the ‘rant’ comment. 20. My name is Amanda and I am a Republicrat. 🙂 And I can vouch for Ade’s intellectual capacity. She’s a pretty smart lady.

The most refreshing part about being American and being a Christian is that we all have the freedom to think for ourselves and change our minds as we process.

I do not know who I will end up voting for. Call me a fence-sitter, but at least I cannot be accused of action without thought, or believing everything that I read.

Ade- You have the patience of a saint…

  21. Thanks for being committed to seeking the Truth, Ade, and for teaching it to your sweet daughter. God’s Word never returns void, and you are planting seeds continuously here on your blog. I’m praying that the Lord will grow those seeds and use them in the lives of those who’ve been bothered or disturbed by what you have to say.

    Many blessings to you, Sister!

  22. Great post. I’ll weigh in too…

I need a President that believes even the tiniest human beings have rights. This video on YouTube might be of interest to those of you “on the fence”. It may be a little dramatic but we should all be aware of what has actually happened to babies right here in America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYRpIf2F9NA

Over 41 MILLION babies have died since Roe v. Wade. We’re killing over 3,000 of our own American citizens EACH DAY right here on our own soil. As I said, I need a President that believes our tiniest human beings have rights and should be protected. The other issues pale in comparison to the urgency with which abortion should be stopped.

  23. WOW you are a great writter!! You go girl!! I am also a Mom that was told I wouldn’t have children–well God decided different and I have 4 gifts!! The last I was told would be down syndrome because of my age, we chose not to be tested because there was no way we would “remove” a baby! Her name is Gina, she is perfect and she goes to your church!! Just think what the world would have missed had we done what was “the thing to do” 22 years ago. Keep up the great work, Lynn, Mom to 4!

Thought maybe anonymous might want to check this out.

The New York Post endorsed Sen. John McCain for president on Monday.

In its editorial, the newspaper said “McCain’s lifelong record of service to America, his battle-tested courage, unshakeable devotion to principle and clear grasp of the dangers and opportunities now facing the nation stand in dramatic contrast to the tissue-paper-thin résumé of his Democratic opponent, freshman Sen. Barack Obama.”

The Post also said that while McCain has been part of Washington politics for years, “he is not of Washington. He knows where the levers of power are located — and how to manipulate them — but he is not controlled by them.”

    The Post also said:

McCain’s running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, was a charming, rock-solid outsider.

Obama and Sen. Joseph Biden “lead a party constructed of special interests.”

McCain and Palin are better poised to lead on such issues as national security, taxes, trade, and energy.

The paper summed up its endorsement by stating: “Sound security, economic and energy policies — plus allegiance to principle — are critical to keeping America safe and strong.

“On all counts, John McCain and Sarah Palin understand this — and that’s why we’re in their corner to the finish.”

  24. I couldn’t get past the Anonymous comment at the top of your post…she gets her “facts” from People Magazine…read the last issue. So nice to know she believes everything she reads from magazines that are full of propaganda. We need to remind ourselves that, although the media makes us feel we are, we are NOT “well informed Americans” just by reading an article about a person or subject. Dig a little deeper if you want to talk seriously about a person or topic.

  25. To the “anonymous” post by the Christian Democrat…although you are correct on many of your points, I don’t think it is okay to “support” with your votes a party or person that supports issues that are against the teaching of the Bible. Maybe abortion will not be outlawed with a Republican in the office, but we, as a nation, are influencing many other smaller countries with our views. If we are pro-abstinence, etc., etc., other countries follow suit (i.e. Trinidad and Tobago, specifically).

If we know an issue is wrong, how can we vote for the person who supports it? I think that by voting for someone who supports an issue we disagree with we are giving that issue a stamp of approval.

  26. Isn’t it interesting that the “anonymous” writer said that the Republicans are against women….but the Democrats are the ones who put up 2 men and rejected Hillary who managed to bring in 18 million votes just from other Democrats in the primaries…..now which party is it that really doesn’t want women in power?
If all Sarah Palin shares with Hillary Clinton is a chromosone, why wasn’t the Democratic nominee for president smart enough to see that…..Perhaps he has a problem with strong women….obviously the Republican candidate for president doesn’t….he’s married to one strong woman and has just nominated another one to be his running mate. By the way, Sarah Palin doesn’t need to promise to lower taxes or anything else….she’s not running for president…she just has to back up the one who is running for president. Oh yeah, the Democratic nominees rejected the woman who won 18 million votes and then want her to go out and campaign for them to help them get elected…no wonder Bill Clinton is still upset!

    Love, Mom

  27. Great post! You rock on! I think it is great for you to be so open and honest. I haven’t commented in a long time but continue to read your blog and be encouraged by it. I often think you would be a trusted and dear friend – one with you for the long haul. Thanks for the truths you speak and the message you continue to give. He is using you to reach others! Glad you are so willing to be used by Him! Karlene

  28. Another great post!

On another note: A few months ago I was in WalMart with my family and as we were heading to the front to check out we came across a book display featuring the book, “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle, the book Oprah is praising and teaching. I stopped and picked it up and started thumbing through it out of curiosity (with no intention of buying it). My 16 year old son, Max, said, “Put that down.” I looked at him, instantly interested in this reaction, and said “I was thinking of buying it to see what it’s all about.” To which he replied, “I won’t let you bring that in our house. Put it down.” So I did and we kind of laughed about it all the while I’m thinking this is very interesting. Later that night I asked him what he’d heard about the book and he said nothing he just didn’t feel good about it. He didn’t know why. I loved it. I’m not sure that has anything to do with the way he was “trained up” or if it’s just a God-given gift, but it gives me great peace!

  29. Amen Adrianne! I came to your blog through your video on youtube! What blessing this post was to me. I am always amazed that we are told by people like Anon that the Republicans think we are stupid and how can we stand for this? Yet, people like Anon, say we are stupid because we believe as we do – which is it? Do they think we are stupid or stupid?
I want you to know that I am praising God with you for the blessing of having your Noah for the time that you did… I also want to know that I grieve with you also -its hard to loose a child – I know. 🙂
May the God who created each of us with a purpose and a plan keep you now and always.

    Heidi

  30. I do agree with this:To me, the Christian principles of “Love your neighbor as yourself”, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”, and “I will judge you by how you have cared the least of those among you” are far more important than the empty promise that abortion will be outlawed, marriage between a man and a woman will be upheld and morality will be somehow restored to America.

There is so much more to being prolife then just against abortions. How many lives are lost everyday due to infertility treatments, the lack of stem cell research (outside of embryonic) the war, poverty or lack of health insurance. How about instead of helping yourself up (or survival of the fittest) we love our neighbors as our selves? I just don’t feel that Mcann and Palin love that? Spiritually, Adrienne, you are such an inspiration, but I have to disagree with you on this and the way everyone is reacting to “Anonymous” We are all God’s creation, we need to respect others views and be glad we do differ, otherwise we’d be China or something. I am gratefully for every one’s different opinions and you all sure have made my morning and interesting one. Oh, and so you all don’t pick on me: I am Mary from Aurora.

  31. This is so VERY refreshing to read. I, too, tire of being told I am stupid or don’t know what I believe because what I believe doesn’t happen to be the most popular belief of the day.

Do you also notice how the feminist movement is all about pro-choice, until a woman makes the choice the feminists don’t agree with?

    SO very hypocritical.

    Anyway, I loved this post!

  32. Mary from Aurora,
I think your’s is the best post on here. Thank you for bringing it back to the truth without using any disparaging remarks one way or the other! Now THAT is Christ-like!!

  33. Amen Annonymous! I pray that people like adrienne with her close minded conservative views will recieve the real “truth”. That God will open their hearts to understand his true purpose and meaning of love. It saddens my heart to know that some christians, with their judgemental, hateful ways are the largest contributors to atheism is the world today. Val
